Jude, we laughed and cried with you through this one. I can only imagine there were moments of real peace woven among the mud, tears, and mishaps—and clearly all those driving lessons are beginning to pay off. The toy truck was ingenious, and the photo made me smile. What a wonderful reminder that the things we once call failures may simply be tuition for the life we long to live.
Thank you so much for this beautiful reflection. It means a great deal to me that you laughed and cried alongside me. It’s those moments of shared humanity that you and I both write about that brings us closer together.
There really were moments of profound peace tucked in among the mud, the tears, and the mishaps, and they made every difficult lesson worthwhile. I especially loved your phrase, “tuition for the life we long to live.” What a beautiful way to say it. Sometimes our greatest teachers arrive disguised as failures. Thank you for continuing to take this journey with me, as I am doing with you.💜
Jude, How funny that today is the anniversary of my ending a similar adventure. In my case, it was driving a support truck for a bicycle journey from Montreal to Quebec City. I had never driven a truck before and needed to take a lesson in a parking lot. I thought it would a meditative journey with an empty truck and my thoughts--me and the road. It turned out to be very much different. I have often thought it could be the basis of a play. Oh, the personalities that got crammed into that one truck!
Thank you so much for this beautiful response. I’m so glad the story held you, and even more glad that the message found you just as you are setting out to follow a new dream of your own. Wishing you courage and steadiness as you follow what is calling you. 🌿

You’ll need to write about it!
I was thoroughly engrossed in this story. You were brave! And I needed this message as I set about following my latest dream. Thank you, Jude.
